SailPoint Competitors and Alternatives for IGA (2026)

For IT and identity teams weighing a move off SailPoint IdentityIQ or Identity Security Cloud, this page compares six identity governance alternatives on pricing model, deployment and what a migration really involves.

On this page

Short answer: SailPoint's main competitors are Saviynt for large enterprises that want a full replacement platform, Microsoft Entra ID Governance for Microsoft 365 shops that want governance at a published price, and Okta Identity Governance for teams already on Okta. Omada, C1 (formerly ConductorOne) and the open-source Evolveum midPoint cover narrower needs covered below.

Key takeaways

  • SailPoint does not publish prices; Vendr reports a median annual SailPoint contract of $109,835 across 39 purchases, ranging from $21,086 to $528,594 (last updated February 2026).
  • Two alternatives publish list prices: Microsoft Entra ID Governance at $7.00 per user per month billed annually, as an add-on that requires Entra ID P1 or P2, and Okta's $17 Essentials suite, the lowest Okta suite that lists Access Governance ($1,500 annual minimum).
  • No alternative on this page publishes a SailPoint importer, so leaving SailPoint means rebuilding connectors, roles and certification campaigns, not exporting and importing them.
  • SailPoint has announced no IdentityIQ end-of-life date, and it offers IdentityIQ customers a complimentary AI-assisted upgrade path to Identity Security Cloud, which makes staying and modernizing a real option.

Why teams look for SailPoint alternatives

Teams look at SailPoint competitors mainly because of cost and implementation weight, not because of a product failure. SailPoint sells on custom quotes only, and third-party procurement data puts a typical contract in six figures: Vendr's median is $109,835 per year across 39 tracked purchases (Vendr SailPoint pricing, updated February 2026, accessed September 22, 2026). For a mid-market company with a few thousand identities, that is often the trigger to check whether a bundled or lighter tool covers enough.

The second driver is the on-premises IdentityIQ product. SailPoint is steering IdentityIQ customers toward its SaaS Identity Security Cloud and offers a complimentary migration methodology it calls Agentic Acceleration (SailPoint migrate to cloud, accessed September 22, 2026). A forced replatform, even inside the same vendor, is a natural moment to run a competitive evaluation. SailPoint has not announced an IdentityIQ end-of-life date, and the migration page itself refers customers to their account representative for support timelines.

Competitors also target IdentityIQ's customization burden directly. Saviynt's comparison page claims that "SailPoint IIQ customers face escalating maintenance costs where every upgrade or customization introduces rigidity" (Saviynt vs SailPoint, accessed September 22, 2026). Treat that as a competitor's claim, not an independent finding.

What SailPoint still does well is documented. SecurityBrief reported in October 2019 that Gartner had named SailPoint a Leader in every Magic Quadrant for Identity Governance and Administration published to that point, six in a row (SecurityBrief), and SailPoint says it was named an April 2026 Gartner Peer Insights Customers' Choice for IGA, based on 197 reviews (SailPoint press release). SailPoint returned to public markets on the Nasdaq (SAIL) on February 13, 2025, after pricing an upsized offering of 60 million shares at $23.00 each on February 12, 2025, 2.5 million of them sold by existing stockholders (SailPoint IPO pricing release).

1. Saviynt Identity Cloud: best for a full enterprise IGA replacement

Saviynt Identity Cloud is the most direct SailPoint competitor: an enterprise identity governance and administration (IGA) platform that analysts and buyers routinely evaluate head to head with SailPoint. Saviynt fits large enterprises replacing IdentityIQ with a different cloud platform. It does not fit teams whose main goal is a much smaller bill, since both vendors sell custom enterprise contracts.

Saviynt does not publish pricing.

  • Single platform claim: Saviynt says its platform is "built on a single codebase/data store", versus SailPoint "assembled from various acquisitions" (Saviynt comparison page).
  • AI features: Saviynt says platform-wide AI features are "included at no extra charge"; verify that in your quote.
  • Funding: Carrick Capital committed $255 million of new capital to Saviynt in a deal closed August 31, 2026 (PR Newswire).

Moving from SailPoint: Saviynt's comparison table promises a "proven, seamless migration for legacy SailPoint customers" and cites one customer that "migrated 700+ applications", but the page publishes no migration tool or method. Ask for the migration approach, the connector list and customer references in the POC.

2. Microsoft Entra ID Governance: best for Microsoft 365 shops

Microsoft Entra ID Governance is an add-on to Entra ID that covers entitlement management, lifecycle workflows for joiner, mover and leaver automation, access reviews and Privileged Identity Management. It fits organizations whose identities already live in Entra ID and whose governance needs center on Microsoft 365 and Entra-integrated apps. It does not fit teams whose governance scope is dominated by complex non-Microsoft systems until connector coverage is confirmed.

Entra ID Governance costs $7.00 per user per month billed annually and is available only to Entra ID P1 or P2 customers; P1 is $7.00 and P2 is $10.00. The Microsoft Entra Suite, which bundles governance with network access and identity protection, is $12.00 and also requires P1 (Microsoft Entra pricing, checked September 22, 2026).

Pricing note: a P1 tenant adding governance pays $14.00 per user per month in list price for the two licenses; P1 is already included in Microsoft 365 E3 and Business Premium.

Moving from SailPoint: there is no published importer. Access packages, review campaigns and workflows are rebuilt natively in Entra, and SailPoint connectors to non-Microsoft systems must be replaced with Entra provisioning connectors.

3. Okta Identity Governance: best for teams already on Okta

Okta Identity Governance (OIG) adds access governance, lifecycle management and Okta Workflows on top of Okta's workforce identity platform. It fits companies that already use Okta for single sign-on and want requests and certifications in the same console. It does not fit buyers on Okta's $6 Starter or $14 Core Essentials suites who expect governance at those prices.

Okta lists Starter at $6, Core Essentials at $14 and Essentials at $17 per user per month billed annually, with a $1,500 minimum annual contract on each. Essentials is the lowest suite that lists Access Governance and Lifecycle Management; Professional and Enterprise are quote only. Okta describes Access Governance as a feature of its Identity Governance (OIG) add-on, which "includes Access Governance, Lifecycle Management, and Workflows", and does not publish the add-on's price (Okta pricing, checked September 22, 2026).

Watch out: Starter and Core Essentials do not list Access Governance, so a team on those suites prices either the $17 Essentials suite or the unpublished OIG add-on.

Moving from SailPoint: no importer is published. Roles, entitlements and certification campaigns are rebuilt in Okta.

4. Omada Identity Cloud: best for a fixed-scope SaaS rollout

Omada Identity Cloud is a SaaS IGA platform hosted on Microsoft Azure, with single-tenant data isolation inside a multi-tenant compute environment. It fits mid-size and large organizations that want a bounded implementation project. It does not fit teams that need to run IGA on their own infrastructure.

Omada does not publish pricing. The vendor advertises "90 days time to value" and a "12-week implementation program" (Omada Identity Cloud, accessed September 22, 2026); those are vendor claims, so ask what scope the 12 weeks covers.

  • Connectors: Omada lists prebuilt connectors including Entra ID, SAP, ServiceNow, Workday, Salesforce and Oracle.
  • No-code configuration and an adaptive data model for adding attributes without custom code.

Moving from SailPoint: Omada's product page references migration options from Oracle IAM and SAP Identity Management, but not from SailPoint. Expect a reimplementation.

5. C1 (formerly ConductorOne): best for SaaS-heavy access reviews and requests

C1, the company formerly called ConductorOne (its site now redirects to c1.ai), sells identity governance modules for lifecycle, access requests and compliance reviews, plus newer AI gateway and agent products. It fits cloud-first companies whose governance scope is mostly SaaS apps. It does not fit buyers who need a published price or deep on-premises connector coverage confirmed up front.

C1 does not publish prices. It offers platform pricing tiered by managed identities (1,000 to 20,000-plus), Pro or Advanced level and modules, or usage-based Flex pricing billed monthly in "C1 Tokens" (C1 pricing, checked September 22, 2026).

Moving from SailPoint: no importer is published. Confirm connectors for every system SailPoint manages today before signing.

6. Evolveum midPoint: best for self-hosted IGA with no license fee

Evolveum midPoint is free, open-source identity governance software with provisioning, role management with role mining, access certification, approval workflows, self-service requests and reporting. It fits organizations with in-house identity engineers that want to avoid license fees and keep data on their own infrastructure. It does not fit lean teams, because you install, upgrade and support it yourselves unless you buy support.

midPoint has no license fee; Evolveum sells support subscriptions, consulting and training, and lists partners in 45-plus countries (Evolveum midPoint, accessed September 22, 2026). Evolveum states one deployment manages 18 million identities.

Admin tip: midPoint's simulations feature runs configuration changes against production data before applying them, which helps when mapping SailPoint roles.

Moving from SailPoint: no importer. Budget for a full reimplementation, usually with a partner.

When to stay with SailPoint

Staying with SailPoint makes sense when the real problem is IdentityIQ upkeep rather than SailPoint itself. SailPoint offers IdentityIQ customers its Agentic Acceleration methodology at no charge to move to Identity Security Cloud, and connectors, objects and rules can be carried into the same identity model (SailPoint migrate to cloud). No competitor publishes an equivalent import path, so a same-vendor move is usually the lowest-migration option.

Staying also makes sense when auditors already rely on your SailPoint certification evidence, when you govern many on-premises and ERP systems through tuned connectors, or when your renewal can be negotiated against a competing quote. A migration resets audit history, connector tuning and reviewer training at once.

How to switch without breaking things

  1. Inventory every source and target SailPoint connects to, with owner and provisioning mode (read-only or read-write).
  2. Export role definitions, entitlement catalogs and certification history and store them for auditors, since no alternative imports them.
  3. Get each shortlisted vendor to confirm a connector, or a documented alternative, for every system on the inventory.
  4. Run a POC against your two hardest systems (usually an ERP and an on-premises directory), not a SaaS app.
  5. Run SailPoint and the new platform in parallel for at least one full certification cycle.
  6. Move provisioning system by system, switching SailPoint to read-only for each one first.
  7. Check joiner, mover and leaver outcomes against HR records before cutting over each wave.
  8. Align the SailPoint contract end date with the parallel-run plan before giving notice.

FAQ

Who are SailPoint's main competitors?

SailPoint's main identity governance competitors are Saviynt, Microsoft Entra ID Governance, Okta Identity Governance, Omada and newer tools such as C1 (formerly ConductorOne). Saviynt is the most common head-to-head enterprise evaluation.

How much does SailPoint cost?

SailPoint does not publish prices and sells on custom quotes. Vendr reports a median annual contract of $109,835 across 39 purchases, with a range of $21,086 to $528,594 (February 2026).

Can Microsoft Entra ID Governance replace SailPoint?

Microsoft Entra ID Governance covers entitlement management, lifecycle workflows, access reviews and PIM for $7.00 per user per month on top of Entra ID P1 or P2. It can replace SailPoint where most governed systems are Microsoft or Entra-integrated; confirm connectors for everything else in a POC.

Is there an open-source alternative to SailPoint?

Yes. Evolveum midPoint is free, open-source IGA software with provisioning, role management and access certification, and Evolveum sells optional support subscriptions.

Is SailPoint IdentityIQ being discontinued?

SailPoint has not announced an IdentityIQ end-of-life date. It encourages IdentityIQ customers to move to Identity Security Cloud and offers a complimentary migration methodology.

Bottom line

If you run Microsoft 365 with Entra ID P1 or P2, price Entra ID Governance first: its list price is public, so it tells you quickly whether a six-figure SailPoint renewal is justified. If you need a full enterprise replacement, run Saviynt against a SailPoint Identity Security Cloud upgrade quote, because SailPoint's own upgrade is the only path that carries your configuration over. Compare the wider field in the identity and access management software hub, or build a vendor list with the software shortlist tool.
