Authors and bylines

Every page says who wrote it, who checked it and when its facts were last verified. This page explains what each of those names means.

What the byline tells you

  • Author. Who researched and wrote the page.
  • Reviewed by. The person who checked the draft against its sources. When no reviewer is named, the page has not yet been checked by a second person and says so in its footer.
  • Updated. The date the page was last verified, not the date it was first published. Refreshing a page includes re-checking its prices.

Our research methodology sets out how sources are chosen and how products are scored, and the corrections policy explains what happens when we get something wrong.
